Questions,
answered plainly.
Hand-dyed yarn is not returnable unless it arrives damaged or significantly different from what was described. If something is wrong, write to me at tess@arachnefiberworks.com and I will sort it out. Digital patterns and PDF zines are final sale.
Orders ship from Nassau County, NY within three to five business days. Domestic transit typically adds two to five days after that. You will receive a tracking number when the label is created. International shipping is available; customs timelines vary and are outside my control.
Most colorways are dyed in batches of four to six skeins at a time. When a batch sells out, that colorway goes until I dye again, which may be days or months depending on the dye schedule. I announce restocks and new batches in the newsletter before they reach the shop.
Color in hand-dyed yarn is variable by design. Studio lighting, monitor calibration, and the specific batch all affect how a colorway photographs. Speckled and variegated colorways especially will shift between skeins. If you need skeins for a single project, buy them in one order. I cannot guarantee consistent color across separate purchases.
Not currently. Custom dyeing is something I mean to offer in limited form, once the core line is stable. If it happens, the newsletter hears before the shop does.
Yes, for local yarn shops and gothic or occult boutiques. Wholesale is 50% keystone with a minimum opening order. If you are a shop buyer, write to me at tess@arachnefiberworks.com and tell me about your shop. I will send the current line sheet and terms.
Hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of wool wash or mild soap. Do not wring. Press gently in a towel and dry flat away from direct heat. The sock bases carry nylon and will forgive a good deal; the worsted merino wants a lighter touch. The full care guide goes into it properly.
Read the care guide →Three bases are in rotation right now: a 75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon fingering, an 80/20 Superwash Blue Faced Leicester/Nylon fingering, and a 100% Superwash Merino worsted. Mini skeins are dyed on the same Merino/Nylon base as the fingering. Fiber content and yardage are listed on every product page. New bases get added as I find ones worth keeping, so if there is something you want to see, write to me at tess@arachnefiberworks.com.
Yes, but the Etsy shop is secondary. Prices there run higher than the site to push traffic direct. You will find the same yarn, but at a markup. Buying here is the better price, and more of it stays with the studio.
