Blood Petal

Roses don't look like we picture them. The ones worth keeping are the color of old wounds - deep, without brightness, the kind of red that reads as black in a certain light. Blood Petal is dyed on Blue Faced Leicester for a reason. BFL carries a natural lustre that makes saturated color ring differently than merino does. The crimson here is not cheerful. It is deliberate. Cross-seasonal: at home at Samhain and at Beltane, and in any working that calls for the color of offering. Also available on a sparkle base for the same crimson set against a field of silver stellina.

Hand-dyed in small batches. Color varies between skeins and from the photos. That variation is the point.

Dyed on Blue Faced Leicester, which is where the lustre comes from. The red sits differently on this base than it would on merino.
